malaysian food vs s'porean food. take thy pick.

i remember that i went to a pasar malam with my s'porean friend,hanani, quite some time ago, one fine evening way before the whole pindah-hostel thing.it looked like geylang bazaar during ramadhan.except that this pasar malam goes on every evening.funnn.

i was actually complaining that the spectacle shop amongst the shophouses nearby was closed cos duh,it was ahad. i had to repair my spectacles,u see.so we ended up walking around the pasar malam for a bit.

without intending to, we ended up buying some juicy satay, ayam percik and an over-sweetened-milo-coloured drink.i felt cheated.but oh well,it costed me RM1 = s$0.40?
and we watched this guy celur-ing yong tau fu on the spot,under the khemah.amusing..it had been a rainy day and the yong tau fu looked irresistable,but no.we decided to invest in them satay and ayam percik instead.am i making u hungry?good.

so we got a ride back to the hostel and she and i sneaked to the second living room and closed the curtains.i mean,it wouldn't be nice to have delicious food and not having enough to share with everyone at the hostel,so we decided to eat in secret.but then, i said to her ,if we were to be found eating secretly,it would be worse.so we decided to sit at the back of the kitchen and if anyone watched us,we would ignore them,unless they approached us,pitifully drooling.
that was funny,us scuttling like mice and then eating secretly.we cringed and winced violently as we finished the over-sweetened-"milo-coloured" drink.it was apparenlty just a chocolate coloured air gula labelled as 'milo ais'.merajuk tau.

anyway i noticed this: one thing about malaysian food is that they sure taste different frm S'pore food although they sell about the same things.i mean, m'sia also has mee rebus,mee soto,tom yam et cetera right, but to me, it tastes generally more tawar than s'pore food.but still nice tho.
and m'sian food sure uses a generous amount of cili padi every where! my tongue is immune to the hottest cili padi already...anyways, my mom ever told me once that selera orang s'pore dgn orang m'sia takkan sama punya.makes sense.

and what m'sia has that s'pore rarely has is ikan keli! i bet u bandar kids have no idea what that is.it's catfish.don't worry,rao,it doesn't look the slightest bit like a cat.it's just a little bit whiskery.
it's a freshwater fish u see,so it can only be found in rivers.s'pore don't have no rivers,and no,the s'pore river doesn't count.haha.neither does the kallang river count.(wait, that's the same thing right?hmmm..*shrug*)
plus, it tastes just like crab meat, it doesn't even taste like fish, esp if it's cooked as lemak cili padi...heh heh.

i bet ur stomaches are keronchong-ing and dancing the ronggeng.
